Monthly workshops begin at West Winds Community Centre, in Woodbridge, starting Wednesday September 6th.
The workshops are designed to help you find more freedom and lightness in your neck and shoulders. The gentle movement explorations will help you let go of long-held pain, stress and tension. You will learn movements to use yourself at home to help ease stiff, sore neck and shoulders.
Beginners are welcome. . .

Happier Hips
Our hips joints are the largest joints in the body and are the key to easy, comfortable, buoyant and grounded movement.
Many of us one have a vague idea of their location in our body, and of their functioning. When your hip joints don't function optimally, movement becomes more difficult, inefficient and even painful.
Using gentle movement from the Feldenkrais Method, this workshop will help you discover your hip joints and explore their potential for greater, more comfortable movement.
The positive effects will flow on to many daily activities, improving your sitting, walking, standing, cycling, yoga practice and dancing. . . .
When: Saturday 20th May, 2017, 10.30am - 1.00pm.
Where: Okines Community House, Main Road Dodges Ferry (next to the Primary School and the Community Garden).
How much: $40 paid in advance, $45 on the day.

Whether you are a paddler, surfer, golfer or musician, - or simply in front of your computer a lot - this work offers new ways of understanding yourself in movement and helps you develop more effective, wholesome ways to move. With practice you can develop new sustainable patterns of movement and freedom in your neck and shoulders.
The video clips of a violinist and a white water kayak-er give a small glimpse of the benefits that are possible, and how we approach things in the Feldenkrais Method. You will be able to have an MP3 file of the lessons to bring home with you too!

Walking for Wellbeing
Get 2016 off to a good start by walking “well”. Would you like to walk to health and fitness, or to Cradle Mountain, on the streets of Barcelona, the foreshore path, around the golf course, or just to the local cafe? Walking is a great way to stay physically fit and experience wellbeing. The more efficiently and comfortably you can walk, the more you can enjoy and expand all of your walking activities.
Lisa Campbell (physiotherapist) and Ruth Frommer (occupational therapist) are both experienced Feldenkrais Practitioners and keen walkers.
In this workshop they will help you learn to:
- Discover how to walk mindfully
- Maximise your ability to walk well
- Explore the link between walking and how you feel
- Reduce the risk of injury and pain due to poor walking habits

Breath Voice and Posture WORKSHOP this weekend
Leading up to the Festival of Voices, here is the chance to develop more freedom, adaptability and power in your breath, experience this through your voice and find greater stability and fluidity in your body. . . and find the hum, hum, hummingbirds in your ribs!
Maybe you just want to learn to help reduce tension and stress in your body? to breathe fluently and easily? to feel more stability through your entire system?
In this workshop, using the Feldenkrais approach to learning - through movement - you will release your chest and mid-back, and free your ribs for easier, more adaptable breathing. You will learn techniques that are gentle, delicious and effective and can become part of your daily health routine, for staying flexible, active and strong.
